When we first moved to Asheville two years ago, I talked Brad into buying us sort-of-matching alpaca sweaters in a little Peruvian boutique downtown. The gypsy-looking saleswoman said she was certain we were twin flames.
At the time, we had no idea what she meant.
Twin flames are two halves of one soul that split to gain new experiences and then spend lifetimes trying to find their way back to each other, she said.
“Uh-huh, right…” Brad and I thought as we rolled our eyes at each other.
But the other night I was compelled to learn more about twin flames.
According to the legend, when you reach a certain frequency or level of consciousness in one life, your soul has to split into two in order to come back down into physical bodies.
The two new souls go their separate ways, but cross paths lifetime after lifetime. As they learn to love themselves and others, they prepare themselves for each other. They may have a “failed” or brief relationship in one lifetime and then finally a “successful” longer-term relationship in the next, and so on, until they ascend together into the next dimension.
While a person can have many many soulmates (including friends, family and romantic relationships) they can only have one twin flame.
According to ancient wisdom, when the soul is “born” or descended from Source energy, it is created in a group. “The souls in this group are our soulmates, ones who are very like us in frequency makeup. Then each of these souls is split into two, creating the twins.”
Twin flames are the “ultimate relationship.” All other relationships through all our lives could be said to be “practice” for the twin.
The Center for Soul Evolution says twin flame couples have been extremely rare for the last several thousand years, but that more and more twins are finding each other now, because of the increasing frequency of the planet and the accelerated rate of awakening:
“People are evolving and learning and healing at such a fast rate that they are getting ready for their twins faster. What used to take lifetimes to learn and heal, people are now going through in years or even months.”
While soulmates serve the purpose of expanding our individual consciousness, twin flames supposedly help raise the frequency of the whole planet.
This all would’ve sounded silly to me a couple of years ago, but Brad and I had a very psychedelic, spiritual night of healing a couple of weeks ago that made me wonder if he really was my twin flame.
We stayed up all night talking, crying, dancing and connecting. All our armor came falling down and we were finally able to see each other for what we were – each other’s destiny.
I realized running away from him was like running away from myself.
I made an audio recording of the whole night and edited it down to the most vulnerable moments:
One of the things I said in the recording was that I was afraid the intimate connection we found that night wouldn’t last, that we’d just gotten caught up in the moment and would be back to our dismal routine of work, stress and bickering in a few days. I’m happy to report the change has lasted two weeks now.
A transformation happened that night that felt like it propelled us light years ahead in our cosmic journey together. If you want to know the catalyst for this change, I’d be glad to share via private message.
